The
Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute of Ontario (NRIO) is currently
offering an Occupational Therapist position in a dynamic and stimulating
environment. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing
clients’ functional performance of work, leisure and self-maintenance
skills. Performance of these skill areas is analyzed in terms of their
perceptual, cognitive, sensory-motor, and sociocultural components.
Duties
and Responsibilities:
- Initial evaluation of each client according to department
guidelines.
- Maintain documentation of services according to program policies
- Attendance at staff meetings
- Participation in and contribution to all aspects of the program
including life skills training and community assessment and
treatment.
- Flexibility regarding hours worked including coverage for
home, community, and workplace-based programming.
- Involved in ongoing quality improvement initiatives in the
delivery of service
- Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional with
effective written and oral communication skills and excellent
organizational skills
Qualification:
- Education:
Completion of both didactic and clinical requirements from an
approved curriculum in Occupational Therapy, with completion
of a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, followed
by the successful completion of the national registration examination.
- Experience:
Experience working with individuals with an Acquired Brain Injury
in a residential , clinical, educational, or health care setting.
- Requirements:
Current membership on the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association,
is required, as is current license to practice Occupational
Therapy.
Title: Rehabilitation Therapist
Job Type: Part Time
(must be willing
to work evenings and weekends)
Location: Etobicoke,
Mississauga, or Hamilton
Years of Expierence: 1 or less
The Rehabilitation Therapist (RT) is responsible for
providing clinical services to clients in a variety of programs and
settings. Working as a member of a direct-care team, you will: Provide
daily care, rehabilitation and behavioral services to clients with
an acquired brain injury.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and indirect care for assigned clients
- Follow designed program as accurately as possible
- Transport clients as appropriate
- Utilize appropriate Crisis Management strategies
- Collect required clinical data
- Use appropriate teaching techniques and tools
- Participate in research or educational presentations as requested
- Assume other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in education, nursing,
health care, or social sciences
- Experience: Relevant work experience in providing services to
individuals with acquired brain injury is preferred.
- Requirements: Practical Knowledge of current rehabilitation
technology, methodology, and treatment. Current certification
in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and current driver’s license
preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must possess
overall fitness to perform the job

The
Rehabilitation Therapist level 2 (RT2) is the person responsible for
providing direct, community based services to clients with an acquired
brain injury. This advanced rehabilitation therapist position requires
the ability to develop, monitor, and provide documentation of client
programming in addition to developing creative ideas and strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and indirect care for assigned clients
- Provide
behaviour management and life skills support
- Contribute
to and follow designed program
- Transport
clients as appropriate
- Utilize
appropriate Crisis Management strategies
- Collect
required clinical data
- Use
appropriate teaching techniques and tools
- Participate
in research or educational presentations as requested
- Assume
other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Education:
Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma in Behavioral Therapy,
Child and Youth Worker (CYW), nursing, kinesiology, or social
sciences background.
- Experience:
Relevant work experience in providing services to individuals
with acquired brain injury is a must. Experience in Behavioral
therapy, Behavioral modification is preferred.
- Requirements:
Practical Knowledge of current rehabilitation technology, methodology,
and treatment. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation
is preferred. Must have access to a reliable vehicle. Excellent
interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.
